As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17
Harbor is a room of givers. People who understand the value of having good people around them, who push each other toward their potential and give back in the same way.
It is a neighborhood work club built for meaningful work, mutual respect, and shared stewardship of a calm, intentional space.
These Club Rules are here to protect the experience of the whole club. By joining Harbor, you agree to use the space with care, respect other members, and help preserve the kind of environment that makes Harbor special.
1. The spirit of Harbor
Harbor is not just a workspace. It is a shared club.
That means members are expected to carry themselves with maturity, consideration, honesty, and respect for others. We want Harbor to be a place where people can do deep work, build real relationships, and feel at ease being here.
In practical terms, this means:
- Treat people with dignity and courtesy
- Be honest and fair in how you use the club
- Respect quiet, privacy, and shared boundaries
- Leave things better than you found them
- Help protect the peace and character of the club
2. Membership and access
Membership gives you permission to access and use Harbor according to your membership type, the current club policies, and any booking rules related to rooms, pods, or other shared spaces.
Harbor currently offers these memberships. What each one includes, and what it costs, is set out in your plan and in any addendum you sign.
- Club membership. Full access to the club during member hours, including shared work areas, pods, and bookable rooms.
- Conference room membership. Room bookings only, under a separate agreement. Conference room members are not club members and do not have drop-in access to the rest of the space.
- Core Group membership. A seat in a Harbor Core Group, which also carries club access. Governed by these rules plus the Core Group addendum.
- Chaplain membership. A complimentary club membership by invitation, governed by these rules plus the Chaplain addendum.
- Team or company membership. Multiple named individuals under one account, where Harbor has approved it in writing.
Where an addendum says something different from these rules, the addendum controls for that membership.
Your membership is personal unless Harbor has approved it as a team or company membership. You may not share your access credentials, door codes, booking privileges, or membership benefits with anyone else.
You must be at least 18 years old to hold a membership.
Harbor may update club procedures, hours, amenities, and policies from time to time as the club grows and improves.
3. Shared space conduct
Members agree to use Harbor in a way that protects the experience of others.
Please:
- Keep noise at a considerate level
- Use designated areas for calls and meetings
- Avoid speakerphone use in shared quiet spaces
- Clean up after yourself
- Return shared items to where they belong
- Treat the space, furnishings, and equipment with care
- Respect the setup and design of the club
Please do not:
- Harass, intimidate, insult, or disrupt others
- Use the club in a way that is reckless, dishonest, or disrespectful
- Create ongoing noise, distraction, or disorder
- Leave messes for others to deal with
- Misuse club systems, bookings, access, or equipment
- Use Harbor for anything illegal, unsafe, or clearly inconsistent with the purpose of the club
4. Quiet, calls, and meetings
Harbor is designed to support focus.
Phone calls, Zoom calls, and meetings should be kept to designated areas such as booked rooms, pods, or approved collaboration spaces. Members should not take calls in quiet work areas if those calls would disturb others.
Use headphones when appropriate. Do not use speakerphone in shared work areas.
A simple rule applies: if your activity is likely to pull others out of focus, move it to a better place.
5. Guests
Guests are welcome in moderation when they are part of a member's visit, meeting, or reservation.
Members are responsible for their guests at all times. Guests must be accompanied by the member who brought them, unless Harbor has approved otherwise. Guests may not use a member's access as a substitute for joining.
By bringing a guest, you agree that the guest will follow these rules, and you accept responsibility for their conduct and for any damage or claim arising from their visit. Harbor may ask any guest to sign a visitor acknowledgment.
If a guest becomes a regular user of the space, Harbor may require that person to become a member.
6. Bookings and shared resources
Some Harbor spaces and resources require advance booking. If a room, pod, or shared resource must be reserved, members agree to follow the booking process and honor their reservation times.
Please:
- Arrive on time
- End on time
- Cancel unused bookings when possible
- Use only the spaces you have reserved
- Leave booked spaces tidy and ready for the next person
Repeated abuse of bookings, no-shows, or occupying spaces without reservation may lead to reduced privileges or loss of membership.
7. Food, drink, and cleanliness
Light food and drink are welcome so long as they do not create unnecessary mess, odor, or disruption.
Be considerate with shared surfaces, seating, and equipment. Clean up crumbs, spills, dishes, packaging, and trash. Do not leave food or personal items behind for others to manage.
If something spills, breaks, or needs attention, let Harbor know promptly.
8. Care for the club
Harbor works best when members act like caretakers, not just consumers.
Please do not damage, remove, misuse, or rearrange club furniture, decor, tools, or equipment without permission. Normal wear is expected; careless or avoidable damage is not.
Members are responsible for the cost of repairing or replacing anything damaged through their own misuse or negligence, or through the actions of their guests. Harbor will tell you what happened and what it costs before charging anything.
9. Safety and prohibited conduct
For the well-being of everyone at Harbor, members may not bring or use anything in the club that creates a safety risk or materially disrupts the environment.
This includes, without limitation:
- Illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia
- Weapons
- Threatening, abusive, or violent behavior
- Intoxication that affects the safety or comfort of others
- Illegal activity of any kind
Harbor may remove or suspend access immediately if needed to protect members, guests, staff, or the space.
10. Pets and animals
Service animals are welcome as required by law. Other animals are allowed only if Harbor has expressly approved them in advance.
11. Filming, photography, and privacy
Harbor is a real shared environment, not a production set.
Casual photos or short phone videos are generally fine so long as they are respectful and do not invade another person's privacy or disrupt the atmosphere. Larger filming setups, staging, lights, tripods, or commercial shoots require prior permission.
Members agree to respect the privacy, work, image, and confidentiality of others in the club.
Security cameras. Harbor uses video cameras in entries and common areas for the security of the club. Cameras are not placed in restrooms, phone booths, or any area where you should expect privacy, and there is no audio recording. Footage is used only for security, safety, and investigating incidents or damage, is kept for a limited period in the ordinary course, and is not monitored for how members work or how long they stay.
Your information. Harbor collects only what it needs to run your membership, such as your name, contact details, billing information, and access records. We do not sell member information. We share it only with the vendors who help us operate the club, such as payment and access providers, or where the law requires it.
12. Payments, renewals, and cancellation
Membership fees are billed according to the plan selected by the member.
By joining, you authorize Harbor to charge the payment method on file for recurring dues and any applicable fees related to your membership. Members are responsible for keeping payment information current.
If a payment fails, Harbor may pause or revoke access until the account is brought current.
Members may cancel according to the terms of their membership plan. Unless Harbor states otherwise in writing, cancellation stops future renewals but does not automatically entitle the member to a refund for charges already incurred.
Some memberships carry their own refund terms, including any published Harbor guarantee. Where they do, those terms are stated in your plan or addendum and they control over this section.
13. Ending a membership
Harbor is a membership club built on trust and fit.
Because of that, Harbor may suspend, limit, or end a membership if a member:
- Repeatedly ignores the Club Rules
- Misuses access or booking privileges
- Fails to pay membership dues
- Harms the space or the experience of others
- Acts in a way that is dishonest, unsafe, disruptive, or not aligned with the spirit of Harbor
When appropriate, Harbor may choose to give a warning and an opportunity to correct the issue. In more serious situations, access may be ended immediately.
If Harbor ends a membership for reasons other than the member's conduct, Harbor will refund the unused portion of any dues already paid. If Harbor ends a membership for cause under this section, dues already paid are not refundable.
When a membership ends, for any reason, access and door codes are deactivated and any belongings left at the club should be collected within thirty days.
14. Personal property and liability
Members are responsible for their own belongings. Harbor is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property except to the extent required by law.
Members use the club and its amenities at their own risk and agree to use reasonable care while on the premises.
15. Security and club operations
Harbor may use reasonable security measures for the protection of the club, its members, and its property. Members agree not to tamper with locks, access systems, internet, cameras, or other operational systems.
Harbor's internet is provided as a convenience and is not guaranteed to be secure, private, or continuously available. Members are responsible for protecting their own devices and data.
16. Changes to these rules
Harbor may update these Club Rules from time to time as needed. Continued membership or continued use of the club after an update means you accept the updated rules.
If a change materially affects what you pay or what you get, Harbor will give you at least thirty days' notice by email before it takes effect. If you do not want to continue under the new terms, you may cancel within that window and receive a refund of the unused portion of any dues already paid.
The legal part, kept plain
The sections above are how we actually run the club. These next ones are the legal terms behind it. They matter, so they are written to be read rather than skimmed past.
17. Risk and responsibility
Harbor is a physical place. People move around, carry hot drinks, use furniture and equipment, and share stairs, doors, and floors. You use the club, its amenities, and its equipment at your own risk, and you agree to use reasonable care while you are here.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Harbor is not liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of the club, and Harbor's total liability to you for any claim connected to your membership will not exceed the amount of membership dues you paid in the twelve months before the claim arose.
This does not limit Harbor's responsibility for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or anything the law does not allow us to disclaim. If any part of this section is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Harbor is also not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost business, arising from your use of the club or from any interruption of it.
18. Your responsibility to Harbor
You agree to cover Harbor for any claim, loss, damage, or reasonable cost that arises from your use of the club, from your guests, from your breach of these rules, or from your own business activities conducted here. This does not apply to anything caused by Harbor's own gross negligence or willful misconduct.
19. Insurance
Harbor carries insurance for the club's own operations. That coverage does not extend to your business, your employees, your equipment, or your liability to others.
If you conduct business at Harbor, you are responsible for carrying whatever insurance your business needs, including general liability and coverage for your own property. Harbor may ask a team or company membership to show proof of coverage.
20. Working it out
If something goes wrong between you and Harbor, the first step is a conversation. Tell us in writing what the problem is and what you would like done about it, and we will do the same. Most things end here.
If a written notice does not resolve it within thirty days, both sides agree to try mediation in Knox County, Tennessee, with a mutually agreed mediator, before filing anything. Each side pays its own costs and the two split the mediator's fee.
Nothing in this section stops either side from acting immediately where it is needed to protect people or property, or from pursuing a claim in small claims court.
21. Governing law
These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute that reaches a court will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Knox County, Tennessee, and both sides consent to that venue.
22. General provisions
Severability. If any provision of these rules is found unenforceable, that provision is limited or removed only to the extent necessary, and everything else stays in force.
Entire agreement. These rules, together with your membership plan and any addendum you have signed, are the whole agreement between you and Harbor about your membership, and they replace any earlier understanding on the subject.
No waiver. If Harbor does not enforce a rule on one occasion, that does not mean the rule is waived or that it will not be enforced later.
Assignment. Your membership is personal and cannot be transferred or assigned. Harbor may assign this agreement in connection with a sale or reorganization of the club.
Notices. Harbor sends notices to the email address on your account, and notices are effective when sent. Keep it current. Send notices to Harbor at the address or email published for member communications.
Closures and interruptions. Harbor may close for holidays, maintenance, private events, or circumstances outside its reasonable control, including weather, utility failure, or acts of government. Short closures are part of club life and do not change your dues. If the club is unavailable to you for more than fourteen consecutive days, Harbor will credit or refund the unused portion of that period.
Survival. Sections 17 through 22 survive the end of your membership.
23. Member acknowledgment
Members sign an acknowledgment confirming they have read these Club Rules, understand them, and agree to follow them as a condition of membership, including that Sections 17 through 22 affect their legal rights.
